Proprietorship Registration
Set up a sole proprietorship — the simplest structure for a single owner starting a small business.
What's covered
- A sole proprietorship is the simplest structure available to a single owner; the business and the owner are the same legal person.
- There is no separate central incorporation — the business is identified through the owner's PAN together with one or more operating registrations such as GST, Udyam (MSME) or a state Shops & Establishment licence.
- The owner carries unlimited personal liability, so business debts can be recovered from personal assets.
- Business income is taxed in the owner's individual income-tax return at the applicable slab rates; the firm files no separate return of its own.
How we work
- 01
Establish identity proofs
Confirm the proprietor's PAN and Aadhaar and open a bank account in the business name to evidence the trade identity.
- 02
Obtain operating registrations
Apply for GST registration if turnover crosses the threshold or supply is inter-state; Udyam/MSME registration is issued the same day online; a Shops & Establishment registration is taken where the state requires it, typically within 5–7 working days.
- 03
Open a current account and begin operations
The bank opens a current account against the registrations above; no incorporation certificate is issued because there is no separate entity to incorporate.
Documents required
- PAN of the proprietor
- Aadhaar of the proprietor

- Central Goods and Services Tax Act 2017, where GST registration is required
- Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises framework (Udyam registration)
